New Year, New Us: Introducing Tim Barber Ltd.’s New Directors by Katelyn Remington-Arata

“When I started this firm 25 years ago as a sole proprietor, I wore all the hats,” recalls our principal architect and studio namesake, Tim Barber.  As his work garnered attention and projects increased in number, scale, and scope, Tim’s team grew from himself to the 20 architects, designers, and administrative support staff that now buzz around our recently expanded Los Angeles studio.

“It’s hard to imagine that fifteen years ago, we filled only a third of this office, and that I used to do the designing, field work, training, management, and invoicing myself,” Tim reminisces.

Sneak Peek: New Home in Beverly Hills with Senior Project Manager Ari Engelman by Katelyn Remington-Arata

In early 2015, Senior Project Manager Ari Engelman began his first Tim Barber Ltd. project: an approximately 30,000 square-foot, ground-up home in Beverly Hills that Principal Architect Tim Barber proclaimed, "Is unlike anything we've every done."  And that's saying a lot for a 23-year-old firm with a varied body of work. 

Tim claims the key to this project's success is Ari, a New York expat whose commercial and scholastic experience were an unexpected boon for this monumental, Southern California residence.

"I'm really proud of the work Ari did to bring this project from a start-over point all the way through plan check.  He included great new features, and he did it in a way that no one else could," Tim praised.
