sharing the adventure with others is part of the fun
The story of how a home came to be built or bounced back after years of neglect can be compelling and entertaining. In this day and age when following design on television, blogs and in magazines is a popular pastime, we are happy to add our experiences to the canon. Some clients prefer their privacy while others are excited to share their homebuilding or renovating escapade with all its triumphs and challenges. We hope you enjoy reading about our projects as much as we enjoyed designing them.
Luxe Magazine | Mar/Apr 2017
We are loving Luxe lately! This time TBL’s Hightree renovation is gracing the pages of the March/April issue of Luxe Los Angeles. We are thrilled when we get the chance to totally transform a home, particularly one that was hit hard by the 1980s. (See the Hightree Project on our site for some great Before & After shots)
This project was as fun to design and build as it is to read about it in this beautiful article. We want thank all our talented collaborators Joe Lucas, Parrish Chilcoat, Levi Powell and Pat Benner as well as our fantastic clients for making the journey so rewarding. And a special thank you to Roger Davis for making us all look good in his gorgeous photographs.
Luxe Magazine | Nov/Dec 2016
The Nov/Dec issue of Luxe San Francisco hit the stands in late November with a stunning 16-page spread of one of our latest projects, the Tuscaloosa Residence. Although built in the suburbs of San Francisco, this Georgian Revival home channels Southern tradition and elegance.
We are grateful to have worked with such a talented team on this project, including Tineke Triggs of Artistic Designs for Living, Hughes Construction and John Dalrymple of Scenic Scapes.
We tip our hats to Laura Hull for capturing all the beautiful details of this home in her wonderful photography.
Window of Opportunity
Coastal Living | September 2015
Our Strand Residence was included in the September 2015 edition of Coastal Living.
We collaborated with interior designer Peter Dunham to transform a dated 1970s condo into a crash pad as spectacular as its view. Peter’s bright and eclectic décor adds to the modern surf-cottage spirit.
Décor | Spring-Summer 2015
In the Spring of 2015, the Spoleto Residence was featured in Décor Magazine. Million-dollar views sold the owners on the home despite its out-of-date interiors. TBL collaborated with the homeowners to design an expansive renovation to the property to open up the house to take in those sweeping panoramas.
My Architectural View
View | February 28 - March 6 2015
In this brief article published in early 2015 by View Magazine, Tim talks about his experience working on the 5th Helena Residence, a 1930s Spanish Revival home.
Coastal Living | February 2015
The Hot Springs Residence was featured in Coastal Living’s February 2015 edition. In the hills of Montecito, this Tudor-inspired home is infused with earthy tones and decor inspired by its proximity to the ocean.
In order to make the home feel more inviting, TBL and designer Melissa Warner Rathblum, turned the house’s dark formal rooms into a bright and airy coastal retreat.
