Growing up in an historic Ohio town, Tim was fascinated by the rich 18th and 19th-century architecture. With a Bachelor’s of Architecture from the University of Cincinnati, Tim began working in urban reclamation, historic preservation and adaptive re-use. Tim opened this architecture practice, Tim Barber Ltd. in Los Angeles in 1994. 

A founder and former President of the Institute of Classical Architecture & Art’s Southern California Chapter, Tim has also served on The National Board of the ICAA. He enthusiastically supports the Los Angeles Conservancy, Tree People, and Habitat for Humanity. Tim also previously launched a furniture and lighting company, “Auteur." He is inspired by classical, traditional and vernacular architecture, traveling the world to understand it through drawing and painting.
